The journey begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Cairo or Giza, followed by a scenic drive to Bahariya Oasis, located approximately 350 km from Cairo. Along the way, there will be two short coffee breaks to relax and enjoy the surroundings. As you travel, you will pass by railway tracks that transport iron ore deposits to Helwan’s steel mills, as Bahariya Oasis is one of Egypt’s primary sources of iron ore.
Upon arrival at Bahariya Oasis, you will meet your experienced 4x4 safari guide, who will take you on an exciting desert adventure. The first stop is the Black Desert, a breathtaking landscape covered in volcanic black powder that gives the terrain its distinctive appearance. Continuing the journey, you will arrive at El Haize Oasis, where you can take a refreshing dip in its natural hot springs. This oasis was once a thriving Roman settlement, and today, it offers visitors a glimpse into the region’s history. A delicious traditional Egyptian lunch will be served here. Before leaving, you will also visit the Water Museum, which highlights the importance of underground water sources for desert communities.
Next, you will drive to Crystal Mountain, one of the most unique natural formations in the desert. Often called the “Jewel of the Desert,” this site features stunning quartzite crystals that glisten under the sun. The journey continues to the Valley of Agabat, a remote and surreal landscape of towering white limestone formations that were shaped over millions of years when the area was submerged under an ancient sea. Here, you will have the opportunity to experience the thrill of sandboarding down the soft dunes.
As the adventure unfolds, you will explore the famous White Desert National Park, known for its remarkable chalk rock formations that resemble animals and other objects, sculpted by wind and time. Some of the most famous formations include those resembling camels, mushrooms, and even a giant chicken. After marveling at this otherworldly scenery, you will head back to the Black Desert for an authentic camping experience.
As the sun sets, you will settle into the campsite, where a traditional Bedouin-style BBQ dinner will be prepared. Sitting around the fire under a sky full of stars, you will enjoy the peaceful ambiance of the desert. All necessary camping equipment, including tents, sleeping bags, and mattresses, will be provided to ensure a comfortable night under the stars.
